"First 100" RM 4
« on: 15 Feb 2013, 03:31 pm »
I bought a used RM 4 and as best I can tell from a conversation with Roger, it is one of the first 100 or so he made...in l980!!!

Anyway....I hooked it up and it sounds very, very good....but, as Roger warned, when you load for a specific set up, with the RCA jacks on the back of the unit....this is before the plug in modules....things get noisy very fast.

My questions are:  1: Will I get less noise just soldering loading and gain resistors across the appropriate jacks INSIDE the unit?

2:I have the appropriate Mills resistors...are these as good as anything else to use for this.

3: If it all sounds good should I assume the electrolytics in the power supply are good to go?

4: How long will it take to save the money to buy a new RM4 or RM4+?
