1999 Legacy release (great sound)

1979 MFSL release of 1968 performance (also, great sound)

That MFSL release of Albert King (above), "great sound" is an understatement, especially considering a live recording. It is more like a sonic marvel. MFSL hit that one out of the park.

Another Legacy release, this one from 2010

And a 2010 Stax CD/DVD edition (includes bonus DVD) of a Canadian TV program (eh?) back in 1983 (palying CD only tonight).

And the last of these from my Founders stash

By the way, comparing the sound of SRV's Texas Flood (1999, Legacy) vs. Couldn't Stand the Weather (2010, Legacy), I much prefer the TF ('99) sound over the CSTW ('10) sound. To my ears/brain/system, the TF ('99) release sounds like music, while the CSTW ('10) release sounds like a stereotypical (no pun intended) CD - snappy, but missing harmonics/texture (bleached out), and grating on my ears.

Anyone else have an opinion comparing the sound of these two releases?

I think I'll go do a search to see if CSTW was released by Legacy back in 1999. Perhaps I'll prefer that one over their 2010 release?

Cha-ching! Just scarfed a 1999 Legacy release of CSTW on swapacd.com. I'll be able to compare once it arrives. I'm guessing I'll prefer it.

Do you happen to know if the 2013 30th Anniverssary Texas Flood (also labeled as Legacy Editon) is the same  recording quality as the 1999  release ?  I realize there are some  extra tracks  (20 instead of the 16 on the '99 release) , just curious if  anyone has compared these 2  releases as the  '13 is much easier to find.

Wish we had access to swapacd up here in  Canada, need a USPS address apparently , can be done but  a bit of a PITA

Sorry, not me.

I ended up cancelling the swapacd.com (great service by the way, too bad not for Canada) order for the '99 Can't Stand the Weather. Instead I ponied up and ordered the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs releases of Texas Flood, Can't Stand the Weather, Soul to Soul, In Step, and Sky is Crying on Amazon. SRV is just too desirable for me to futz around with trying to figure out which remasters will not make my ears bleed. I am confident  :|  these will be the optimal remasters for me as all other MFSL releases I have are terrific. For the $, they'd better be  :cuss:

A far cry from  your  $.49 swapacd  original plan   !!
You should be in for a treat....  I have yet to hear one of these MFSL releases, no SACD capable device here.
Enjoy, and let us know  how they are    :thumb:
