Dang, if I weren't already horizontal with quite the worst flu I've ever had, I'd be bowled over!!  WOW!!

Thanks guys, that's very, very nice of you, muchos gracias!!   :bounce:

My aged Mother just rang me, we briefly discussed the EU's prospects for unity in coming years, my wife gave me a lovely card and two ample vests to cover my burgeoning chest, and I've just cleaned up a very large cat mess after the dreadful ginger furbag was locked in the house overnight.... and ran for his wretched life when I entered the dining room this morning!!

Yesterday I bought some very good value semis, Paul bought some exceptional value caps in Minnesota, and yes, Paul, I'm that bloody old, but the alternatives are unthinkable, and Russell in Kent just gently chided me for always releasing a new product exactly when he is considering upgrading!!

At noon I have a posse of pals coming around for a coffee and light lunch, and they are to hear the latest NAKSA off the line, so I guess I better get out into the workshop to finish it!!

It will be a good day in Melbourne today, 17C, clearing showers, overcast - I really enjoy wintry weather.

Thanks guys, you make the loneliness of the long distance audio designer all worthwhile....... :thankyou:

Onwards and upwards, thanks to you all,

Hugh

Happy Birthday you old fart.

At least you're older than me even though we both share 1951.

Hi Hugh,

I guess we have to add GET WELL SOON to the Birthday  :birthday: wishes.

I hope you were wearing your new Vest as you kicked the cat into next week!

Cheers,
Ron.

BTW, How'd the Naksa Demo go?

Ditto from me, 1951 was obviously an exceptional year. As far as I'm concerned in wine terms it was the vintage of the century

A belated :birthday: from me as well Hugh.

Thank you Ron, Gaetan, Peter, Kyrill, Neil, KK and Paul, much appreciated.

Very pleasant luncheon, good to be around friends.

Here's a picture of the newly completed NAKSA, #2 I've built:

Here you can see:

A single 300VA 30-0-30Vac toroid
No output inductors required
All rectification/filtering on board
L shaped brackets to hold up the 300mm x 75mm heatsink (with large cutout in the base for ventilation)
Double pole power switch
Chassis to IEC, and star earth to chassis earthing.

Cheers,

Hugh

It sounds great too (as well described in the impressions thread).  Not a bad birthday present to oneself Hugh when you can sit back and contemplate such a lovely sonic achievement.  :D

Are you still thinking of raising future L brackets a few mm to allow the wires to run under the heat sink?

Happy birthday, Hugh!  :birthday:

Sorry this is a bit belated - have been in Venice on a short (but lovely) holiday.

Best of luck for many more years of great amps and great insights into the world  :green:

Thanks Jens, Lyn,

Ah, Venice in spring!!  The odours, bellissimo!!

You are lucky in Europe, travel is easy and convenient.  BUT, will the financial landscape hold out, that is the sobering question....

Martin has the NAKSA at present, he is rhapsodic, on Wednesday it rotates to Russell to test it on ELS63s.

Cheers,

Hugh
