Sizing BIT AVR
« on: 7 Jan 2021, 02:04 pm »
Hi Folks (James),

I'm looking into a Bryston BIT Unit for my HT.  I'm currently running a Primaluna EVO 400 Preamp into a Bryston 14B3.  Other peripherals that I would like to connect should the BIT have the capability are:

Outlaw Audio HT Pre/Pro
Oppo BDP 105
Lumin U1 Streamer
Denafrips Ares II DAC
Simaudio Titan 5 Channel HT Amplifier
Paradigm Sub12
TCL 75" LED TV

Can I get away with one BIT 20 AVR or is my load too great?

If the load is too much, would two 15's suffice or some other combination that would keep cost at a minimum while still being adequate?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi ccp

I would go with the 20 amp single unit.  It has a much larger isolation transformer and would have no issue accommodating all your gear.

Thank you James.  Great service as always.

I'll be ordering a BIT 20 AVR today.

Cheers from NB!

Got an BIT 20 AVR BALANCED (240v)... My whole system is on it including 2x 28b3... No stress.

@James Tanner: I know this is an old topic but is a BIT 20 AVR comfortable with 2 x 28 B’s (which have their own Plitron transformers if I remember correctly?

I’m looking to reduce/eliminate hiss and sometimes buzzing noises coming from my 92 dB efficiency speakers which is audible when no music is playing. The buzz increases when the volume control is turned up (again when no music is played) and becomes quite violently on maximum volume.

Alternatively (preferably 🤑😉) which BIT capacity would suffice for the system without the 28B’s if they don’t need it or if the are too demanding for a BIT?

My system:
LP-1 / BP2 MM / PS3
BCD-3 cd player
BP 26 / MPS2 preamp
28 B3 amplifiers
PMC BB5 SE

Hi

I have used the BIT20 at shows many times with 28B's never had any issues - so I would say you are fine with the BIT 20 .

best
