The logo badge I'd like to do is shaped like a squattier version of your avatar, more rectangular than square, probably machined aluminum.

Cool, so more like this one? That looks pretty good on my cab even just done in two layer clear plastic print stock. Done on aluminum in the colors of your choice it would be pretty classy, I think.

Yes, that's the shape, or darn close (the ratios might be slighly different).  Bronze would be cool too.
