Definitely mix it up. And tubes (Supratek) up front with Nuforce 9SEv3 (Here tomorrow) we have some wunderbar music! And I cant say enough about the BDA-1 DAC. Its excellent. And I am a DAC connisewer (the one in the streets ) Ive been through a bunch. All this via Squeezebox (Touch when it comes out) through the Merlin VSMs... and its heaven. I get a really great sound. Maybe not the impact of those German speakers(??) or the 10 ft tall image of Electrostats... but inner detail, real tone and dynamic swings that kick ass!
So its good to mix. And yes my system sounds the best! lol

No question a great company to deal with. I owned a 4B years ago to drive Maggie 3As. Powerfull, bass to write home about but sterile and bright. You needed a tubed Pre o make it right. A VAC, CJ or VTL Pre was all it needed to excell.  That was the 4B now several incarnations later a piece like the 28B comes along and changes everything again.
  I am a tube man. SET now. However you owe it to youself to hear this amp. No need for a tubed pre. It sounds like life not tubes or SS LIFE baby.
  I'm no rag groupie but I've heard Harry Pearsons' system with tubes and if Harry says the 28B is great then for me that was enough to check it out. He was not wrong.
 With the Maggie 20.1s, hold on to your wallet cause its gonna fly out of your pocket. I want one. Its time to bring one home to compare to the SETs. So any demos out there ?

Sorry guys. I did not mean to offend you with the fan boy insult.
My point was to mix it up a bit, instead of slapping each other on the back and congradulating each other on buying a piece of gear with a 20 year old warrantee. BTW I have a 27 year old tube amp with no problems. Do I have peace of mind that my amp is backed by a team of people who will support me my whole life? No. But that is not why I bought the amp  in the first place.

And I really was not trying to pit SS against tubes, that is just silly.

And if you are a fanboy, then understand that most people will take what you say with a grain of salt. There is always THAT pitfall.

I have heard a lot of critisism that the Bryston amps are bright,sterile and SS sounding. It has been repeated so many times it has almost been accepted as fact. I have also heard that Bryston may have addresssed some of those problems with the new "squared" line.

And yes implementation and synergy are everything in my book too.
Maybe Bryston amps were paired with a SS preamp, and the SS sound really shone thru, masking the beauty the amp can deliver

Would love to do a Bryston shootout.
