Dear Friends,

I am pulling my Omega (Hoyt Bedford) type 1 speakers (8" cone, rated at 97dB) out of their boxes and I would like a 'modern' way to drive them. The DIY amp that I built is a "Charlize" and is a Tripath Class-T amp based on the excellent Tripath TA2020 from DIYParadise. So I am looking at = or better than that, please.

I would like a remote control ideally, to Stream Tidal (MQA or not), connect a Technics sl-1200 (current photo stage is $150). Is there a 'do all box' under $500? Heck, under $300?

Thank you in advance!!

I am thinking that this receiver from Denon (DRA 800H) @ $500 could do the trick.

It was well reviewed in Stereo Review.

The NAD got a nice review by Sam Tellig in Stereophile.  It would definitely work.  Are there enough jacks for input purposes ... looks like there is only a phono and one other aux.  If you will only have 2 sources, it should be ok.  Rich

Should work very fine if you can find one, I believe it will come under your price point.

May I ask and work with me for a minute ... you plan to add a TT, which will require dedicated space (at least 16" by 16") and may require an outboard phono preamp and you will have a record collection, which will grow quicker than you may realize ... why would the size of the amp matter that much?

If your budget will allow, this smaller form integrated would work and you would not need the outboard phono amp ...

Hi Rar,

Thank you for this suggestion. It would be for a built in space in our wall and I’m not sure how much will fit in the built in area, why I was thinking smaller might be better. It’s my second system but my only vinyl system. The TT  and Cart isn’t great and why I was hoping for a built in passively phono stage. I’ll know more in a month or so but I wanted to get prepared in advance.
