Cornet II metalworking questions?
« on: 5 Feb 2012, 05:49 pm »
Thinking of getting a Cornet II kit but I absolutely do not want to do any metalwork. Has anyone here ordered the plates from Front Panel Express?

I have ordered front and back panels from them.  Top notch folks.  Excellent work!  The design software is pretty easy to use.

Cheers,

If you use the Lansing enclosure you will have to do metal work on the front and rear panel of the chassis.  The front and rear have a complex cross section (extrusions) that I am positive FPE does not stock.  You cannot replace these panels with flat panels!!  The top panel can easily be done by FPE.

As obvious option - Lansing has personalisation service (expensive!).
I'd go different way - use full-wide enclosure with customisations from one of the services (FPE, ModuShop) and isolate the transformer with all AC connections in shielded zone.
