Title: IDA-8 Question...
Post by: DanM66 on 21 Jun 2017, 01:05 am
I just picked up a IDA-8.  I have a portable hard drive with a lot of high res music on it.  Without using a computer does anyone have any recommendations for a unit that I could simply plug the hard drive into and then connect to the amp.  Preferably with a screen.  Just looking for recommendations..
Thanks!

Raspberry Pi+touchscreen and USB hub to power the drive would probably be the cheapest option.

@ DanM66

You can also check Sonore products (from $300 retail). You can than use Roon to stream music to IDA. If you don't want to subscribe to Roon, all their devices come with BubbleUPnP, so you can use smartphone or tablet as a control device.

Alternately if you plan to spend $500 or more, I would go for one of the Win 10 tablets, like Asus Switch Alpha 12 that retail from $600.

Not really a Nuprime IDA-8 question (and if it was, not a descriptive title).

More appropriate would probably be something like "Streamer for use with portable HDD - Recommendations?" in The Discless Circle (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=133.0).

Wouldn't the Omnia work for this as well?

Thanks for the advise, the Omnia does seem like the perfect fit...
