Compared to the AV-3, the N3 is has a more open, detailed, and transparent midrange and high end. The N2X has a very similar sound quality to the N3, but the N3 and the N3S are more efficient, have a wider dynamic range, and better power handling capability. I have built and sold a number of N2X and the N3S. They are both wonderful sounding speakers, but I like the N3 and N3S better. If your budget allows, I highly recommend going with all the performance upgrade options including the Sonicap Platinum bypass capacitors.
