Just about everyone coming to the show will be in town Saturday evening.  We can reserve a room at Cool River Cafe, Il Fornaio or Shanahan's Steakhouse so we can all share a group hug before a nice dinner and (many) drinks.  Old friends can renew ties and new friends can put faces to screen names.  Vote yes if you are interested.  If we get at least 10, I say the party is on!  :wine:  :banana piano:

Hellz yeah!

Shanahan's is the most expensive, but probably has the best food.  Next is Cool River (IMO).  If we do Shanahan's, then you can all experience the magic mushrooms that Chair Guy recommends ;)

Count me in.
Are these places within walking distance of the Marriott?

From what I see and the prices on the menu it is comparable to fine dining establishments in the S.F. Bay area. Been there done that many, many times.

Wow!

Those better be GOOD steaks!

Still trying to figure out if I'm going. Even cheap plane tickets are getting expensive. Have to make a decision in the next week. Enjoyed the heck out of the OC show and would like to go to this, but maybe I should just wait till the next SoCal show....

Erin from the Shanahan's replied to say that it's unlawful in Colorado to bring your own wine to a restaurant.  They have an extensive wine list but the going rate for good wine is typically high in restaurants.  I would say 2 to 3 times what you pay if you are a savvy wine shopper.  Most restaurants in DC and Virginia have a reasonable $20-30 corkage fee.  It's not for everyday but if you have a special wine to celebrate a special occasion, it's worth the fee to "splurge" on a special bottle.  For example, I plan to take a bottle of Cristal to celebrate my anniversary when we go out because that's the Champagne I used when I proposed.  I can get one for around 150 but a restaurant would charge 4-500.  Corkage fee is the only way to go.

Citizens of Colorado you need to rise up to overturn this injustice.  Write your reps and sens to change the law.  Virginia just passed a law so that you can BYOW as of July 1 this year.  Are you going to be less progressive than ol' Virginia?  :wine:

P.S. There are some "bargains" in the wine list.  We had a couple of decent bottles last year at reasonable prices last year.  I am sure we will find some this year too.

Dang, down here in Texas I can feed my whole family steaks, brisket, ribs, etc. (all smoked or grilled) for what it will cost me to eat up there.

If you do it on your own grill, you can feed the neighbors as well.  The steaks are about 30% high, but ten bucks for a helping of mashed potatoes?  :o

True Danny, and as a Texas boy (now in CO), I can state with certainty that the brisket, bbq, and general meat prep cannot compare to Texas, no matter how much you spend.  The exception is high end steaks - CO has a few really good places for that, but for anything else, it's mediocre, at best ;)

Hey there guys!! All we need is three more to join us for a Saturday night get together over a fine dinner at Shanahans. Put yourself on the list of attendees. Gonna be a blast!!! We can all share our joy's and disappointments in our audio adventures. I've a ton of them. Some are quite unbelievable!! A few of them worked out to be some of the best audio gear I've bought. HEY!!! Do it!! Get your name on the attendees list!!
