Time to remove seven steel c-channel beams from the ceiling. The only capable enough tool I own is an angle grinder, which, is a mess to say the least.
A plasma cutter would be perfect right about now.

The camera (operator) isn't quite sure how to handle the image being photographed. But these are honest to God sparks and each and every one of them hurt.
I'm soaking my long sleeve shirt and gloves in water to help things out. I need leather welders coverings.

One beam down.....six more to go.
Break time. I need to get a cool drink, take the batteries out of the smoker detector and open some windows.
I've got a fire extinguisher and the garden sprayer full of water.... just in case.
The cardboard "shield" I fabricated doesn't seem to be where I need it, when I need it.

Eeesh that is a lot of sparks!

A sawzall with metal blade could not do it with less drama Bob?

How thick ARE those beams?

Yea Mark, c'mon......
I've got a sawzall, but only coarse wood blades.
I've all but burnt through the grinder blade and need a new one, so I think I'll take your advise and try a metal blade for the sawzall.
Good idea, I'm embarrassed to have not thought about using that tool.  :duh:

After cutting a few beams, it seems fate had chosen THIS to be a good time to quit for the day.
While cutting a beam, the blade had settled in to a nice smooth slice when I apparently allowed the "ease" of that particular cut to let me allow my grip to relax.
That's when the blade bound up, the grinder jumped out of my hands, flipped around, and the blade went across my chest.

Yea....I think it's time for a beer and listen to some tunes. Tomorrow when the hardware stores are open, I'll get a blade for the sawzall.

Just wait til wifey gets home.
I am glad this wasn't several inches higher. Right across the face. No. Just....no.

Thanks guys.
Yes indeed Bill, I've got the day off and will be purchasing a couple of blades for my reciprocating saw today.
Hopefully that'll be less painful.

It's been too long since we had a boob shot on Audio Circle. We were overdue.

Bob

p.s. And "yes"....the guys name is "Weiner". I think he should run for 2016 and have that other guy named "Holder" to be his running mate.
Then would could vote for "Weiner/Holder"  :icon_twisted:
