There's only been two significant changes to OT, it use to be whoever won the coin toss kicked a field goal and won, they had that for decades.  Then they recently switched to you had to score a TD to win on the first drive, a FG gave the other team a possession, and they changed regular season OT to ten minutes from fifteen.  It's very fair for a sudden death playoff system.  You want the ball, stop the other team, jeez.   The idea of an entire period is not sudden death, and brings it's own problems that would be bitched about.  Also you might want to avoid overtime altogether and stop the other team when they had only thirteen seconds to go in the game, just sayin.

Tom Brady retires!!!

truly the goat - it has been a pleasure, a complete joy to witness his play, his carriage, his personal growth and maturation since the year he replaced drew b

perfect he goes out after winning one at tampa bay, clarifies his undisputable greatness vis a vis belichek's influence (as substantial as that certainly is), still performing at an exceptionally high level at an unheard-of age, almost pulling off yet another playoff magic act last week

The Brady camp is pushing back, says nothing is definite until Tom makes the announcement.  The retirement was reported by CBS Sports and several other outlets.  After CBS reported it and did a two hour tribute to Brady I was pretty sure it was fact.

Edit: ESPN is reporting his retirement as the lead story this morning.

i'd be surprised if its fake news

i think it is more about the brady camp wanting to control the timing of the announcement and marketing related narrative around it

Fantastic for the Bengals and Joe Burrow! Refs certainly didn't give them any breaks (like PI's and a facemask near the end), but they didn't complain, and just got it done. They definitely earned it, mostly with defense, against probably the most dangerous offense there is, in their own house. What a great game  :thumb:

All of the playoff games were great.
It'll be nice to see some fresh faces in the Super Bowl, I'm looking forward to this one.

excellent, tight games, befitting of the final 4

gotta love burrow chase and big cats... wow...

rams were tough today, and niners made a few mistakes too many, 3 straight wins over a really good team in one season is really really hard to accomplish

The story seems to be Brady gets a big check Feb 4 so the retirement is on hold until after he gets the money.  I'm sure he could care less about team paychecks with his endorsement contracts, but his agent does and is why the agent was screaming no, he's not retiring.
