Hiya Guys,

Not sure if you all have been keeping up with the concerts down at Powell but they have quite a few good ones coming up. One in particular caught my eye. Emanual Ax (the pianist) with be playing with the fine folks down at Powell on May 4th, 5th and the 6th.

Heres the program
-----------------------------
David Robertson, conductor
Emanuel Ax, piano

DE GRIGNY/BENJAMIN Livre d'orgue: Récit de tierce en taille
GEORGE BENJAMIN Palimpsests
SIBELIUS Symphony No. 7
BRAHMS Piano Concerto No. 2

Baroque organist de Grigny's Récit is past as prelude. With fierce, pure dedication, George Benjamin brings the past into the present with his Palimpsests, in which he layers old and newer music. Sibelius, in his final symphony, reached heights of purity, untouched by trends or fashion. And Brahms, in his last piano concerto, finds wisdom, serenity and light.
Pre-Concert Perspective with David Robertson one hour before each performance.
------------------------

If you aren't familiar, Ax is da bomb. He plays with the same intensity that YoYo Ma plays the cello. This guy is a rock star in the Classical world.

I realize the symphony tickets have gotten pretty expensive in recent years but it goes to support our hometown musicians like our fellow GASser Adrian (who BTW rank consitantly as one of the top orchestras in the States).

Anybody interested in going to this one or any of the others (Feb 24th horn concertos looks pretty interesting as does May 12th, Stravinsy's Firebird)
