I've been looking around for sennheiser 600s and came across a seller that claimed that his product was real, and to beware cheap chinease copies that are flooding the market. Now I'm leery of seeking good prices for the fear of getting stuck with a counterfit. All of the certified dealers want $400 for the 600s which strikes me as price fixing. Does anyone know if the counterfit problem is for real??

Yes, I do believe it is. Saw something on the Sennheiser website saying that counterfeits were indeed a problem.

Indeed.  Lots of fake cans out there, especially AT's.
