José Carlos Amaral Vieira
Heitor Villa-Lobos

On Villa I could suggest his strings quartets, only 17 they are easy to listen not difficult to enjoy as Schoenberg or Ravel quartets, all were composed between 1915 and 1957, they are in the Euro composers style, there is a fantastique book entirely about this quartets:

Indeed.  But how about three instead of one... other than Villa-Lobos.  I'm already familiar with a few of his works.
Good post, Gustavo!  I'm looking forward to you recommendations.

Thank you for the list,  which should keep me busy on Qobuz for some time.

Offhand, two composers for the guitar who should not be forgotten are Ramamés Gnattali and Luiz Bonfá. Whether they are too melodic and folk influenced to be considered "classical" is up to the listener, but if Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words are classical, so are their works, to my ears.

Oh, and Laurindo Almeida, but I suppose neither he nor Bonfā can be considered to "ignored."

Well, I liked everyone I got to hear except Chiquinha Gonzaga who received a TV mini-series just for being woman and music from the 19th century is not very interesting.
Guerra-Peixe's music is full of fascinating regional accents:

Claudio Santoro:

Radames Gnattali:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=radames+gnattali
Amaral Vieira:

Francisco Mignone:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Francisco+Mignone
Camargo Guarnieri:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Camargo+Guarnieri

However the composer that I really recommend is the extraordinary Jorge Antunes, an extremely simple and humble person despite his high academic qualifications in several areas, his academic qualifications today are rare to be found in a single person, totally devoid of the ego and falsehood of fame of certain artists of current music even classical, he was the creator of several new musical concepts such as Mini Operas, Musical Letters and was precourses of Eletronic Music (analog in 1950s) in Brazil.

The big problem of all these fascinating new composers is that their repertoire available on CDs is minimal or none, being Villa-Lobos the most well-known and recorded due his famous Brazilian Baquianas symphonies inspired by the Bach style, however its worthwhile to know these new composers and rest assured that today ''music'' is not music.

I really appreciate your interest guys, muchas gracias :thumb:

In case of Maestro Jorge Antunes his works was even suffered artistic censorship due to some of their works having a leftist political theme being the most regrettable case the CCBB (Bank of Brasil Cultural Center) where his works were systematically rejected to participate, having the case taking the courts and the newspapers.

Jorge Antunes says that BB cultural center censored his works
Maestro obtains preliminary injunction and guarantees registration in CCBB project

WILLIAM FRANCE
Brasilia Branch Office
The composer and conductor Jorge Antunes, professor at the University of Brasilia, obtained last Friday preliminary injunction that ensured his registration and the presentation of a series of micro-songs written by him for the project "Estréia Brasileiras", of the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB) in Rio.

Antunes told the court that he suffered "artistic censorship" by the CCBB as his work have been vetoed. The micro-songs entitled "Seis Missivas BB" use excerpts from letters sent to him by institutions linked to Banco do Brasil in the last three years denying support for his work.

According to the conductor the short songs were written "with a lot of humor and irreverence".
The titles of the six micro-songs are:
CCBB-1995 Denying Support to Mini-operas
FBB-1996 Denying Support to Opera Olga
CCBB-1996 Denying Support to Mini-operas
CCBB-1996 Denying Information of Names of Commissioners of Selection of Projects
BB-1997 Denying Support to Ópera Olga
BB-1997 Denying Support to Minióperas.

All of these letters according to the conductor were in response to requests for support for his operas and mini-operas, especially for "Olga" based on the life of communist leader Olga Benário, wife of Luiz Carlos Prestes - completed in 94 but not yet staged.

The "Estréia Brasileiras" project is produced by the company Crescente Produções Artísticas Ltda with support from the CCBB and seeks new classical music to be presented in theaters and later recorded on CD.

On February 15 the director of Crescente Maria Júlia Vieira Pinheiro and musical director Guilherme Bauer hired Jorge Antunes to produce a six-minute work for singing and piano, for R$250 of fee (less than $50 USD today). The commitment was to show the music on 08July1997.

According to the conductor upon learning of the content of the micro-songs the direction of the Cultural Center informed Crescente that it would not allow its presentation. Antunes states that the reason for the veto was "damage to the center's image, which would run the risk of no longer receiving funds from the Banco do Brasil".

"This is a childish position of the center as they do not want to see the texts of the letters they wrote themselves published" said Antunes. The work was to be interpreted by the baritone Ignácio de Nono, who refused to present it. According to the conductor, "supporting the CCBB's position".

The decision go to court according to the conductor, was "due to the tiredness of so many negative responses and the distrust of aesthetic prejudice and ideological persecution".

Last year Antunes tried unsuccessfully to make the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center divulge the names of the people who make the selection of cultural projects. He thought about going to court, but gave up.

Now in the request to Justice Antunes requested - and obtained with the preliminary injunction - his registration in the project and the presentation of the piece on the scheduled date. For this it was based on article 220 of the Constitution of 1988 which establishes free intellectual, artistic, scientific and communication expression "regardless of censorship or license".
