I used before a coaxial cable between my bryston cd player and the SP3 processor and everything was ok
i had a AES/EBU cable to see the difference and it looks great too
When i want to unplug the coaxial cable and only use the AES/EBU , no sound and the AES/EBU cable is still plug
The SP3 is set to bal 1
Is there something i do wrong
help me

I presume you mean hear the difference vs. see it? It seems you have the SP3 set to analog balanced inputs and what you are trying to do is use a balanced digital cable?
-
If so, you want to use the digital button to select one of the four digital inputs, which, in your case would be the AES/EBU
-
No i use digital button and both cables are plug (coax and AES/EBU) and i use bal 2 input
the cd input with coaxial is set for SPDIF 1
the AES/EBU cable is on bal 2 input
and the if i unplug the coaxial cable, no sound on the bal 2 input
Sure there is a setting for

There are analog and digital inputs. Do you mean you have a pair of AES/EBU analog cables connected to the bal 2 input?
-
The "Balanced 1" and "Balanced 2" inputs are stereo analog input pairs.
You are trying to connect the AES/EBU balanced digital output of the BCD-1 to one of the balanced analog inputs of the SP3, and of course that won't work. It has to be connected to one of the AES/EBU digital inputs directly below the Coaxial S/PDIF inputs.

Hi Folks,
There are two AES EBU Digital inputs on the SP-3 - right below the 4 COAX digital inputs.

No the AES/EBU cable is in the AES 2 input and the coaxial on SPDIF 1 input
i tried to remove the AES/EBU cable and the sound continue.
I think there is a problem with the 2 AES/EBU input or
the signal is not working out of the bcd-1
When i select on the sp3 the bal 1 or bal 2 input, is there a setting in the menu to set it to AES
thank you

The Source Select buttons on the front panel and remote can be programmed to correspond to any one of the digital coaxial or optical inputs, but I don't believe you can program them for the AES/EBU digital inputs.
Are you pressing the Digital button first before selecting the input? The first line in the display should read SRC: AES2 DIG
Steve
-
yes i press the digital button first and Yes the first line display read AES2 DIG
when i only plug the AES/EBU cable i have no audio
i add a coaxial cable and the audio is running and line 1 display AES2 DIG too
i tried 2 different AES/EBU cable and no sound for both
now i think that it is a sp3 or bcd-1 issue
how will i find it

I have the same problem - the sp3 doesn't recognise there's an AES signal.
It worked fine before (bal1 to a cd transport and bal2 to a bdp) but since upgrading the sp3 firmware to 2014.07 I get no sound at all from the sp3 from either source. I think this is because it's not recognising there's an AES signal because the display says "bal1 digital no". Switching between all other sources (opt, coax and hdmi) and it works fine...
Any ideas for how to fix this would be appreciated !

This sounds exactly like my issue.
I have emailed Mike as per James' suggestion, I know he is busy.
How was the EPROM issue resolved for you?
-
Call Mike
He will help you to reset the Eprom

Yes - Mike did solve the problem!
