best (& worst) power cords for Nuforce amps
« on: 6 Mar 2008, 07:18 pm »
I'm interested in hearing owners' experiences on what are better & worse power cords for Nuforces.  I've read recent posts at the Audio Asylum suggesting that Nuforces respond especially favorably to particular cords (eg, Acrolink 6N4030) or to large-guage OCC shielded cords.  I'm especially interested in hearing whether users prefer shielded or unshielded cords, and whether larger guages (eg, up to 9 guage) offer improvements.  Currently mine are shielded (classic Belden), but  I've found that adding a choke to them (at the amp end) improves the amps' performance very significantly, and so I see that as a possible addition to any cord upgrade I'll do.   Thanks.

Definitely shielded cord and adding a choke will help.
If you're going to spend more than $1K to $2K for a few high-end power cords, then you would be better off using the generic Nuforce power cord (it has a choke on it) with the high performance BlackNoise AC filter and surge protector.
