I have a pair of 626R's, and am considering putting some money into improving them. Blackhole 5 and lambswool seem to be obvious upgrades, but what else is available? Would it be a worthwhile improvement to see if I could upgrade to MLS cabinets, or would the cost/performance ratio be too low? How about some DIY bearded stands? I've thought about building some stands w/stacked plywood or mdf cut to the size of the 626's cabinet to have a bearded stand, (right now my stands are from parts express, solid, but a little too high) but I'm not sure if a basically solid piece of wood is better than a metal stand. Anyone try this out?
