Toroid and EI Transformer Orientation Advice needed
« on: 26 May 2021, 12:37 pm »
Hi All!

There's lots of info on orienting EI transformers to prevent coupling.  But what if your power trans is a toroid directly above the EI output trannies?  Do you shoot for perpendicular windings in this case (windings of opt oriented in the same manner as the core of the toroid)?  Or does it even matter with toroids?

Thanks!!!

If needed; 2 watt SET tube amp using 6BQ5

If there is any magnetic field interference you will hear a hum.

Well Toroid power transformers have a smaller field than EI power transformers. It's the input circuit that is most sensitive to picking up field hum.
