I am considering picking up the Carver Pro ZR series but it would entail a initial order that I would like to get rid of fairly quickly.  Would anyone be interested in buying some of my initial stock at great prices to ease into this line?

ZR1600 - $1189 list, $891.75 map, YOUR PRICE call  :D
400 Wpc x 2 @ 8ohms, 660 Wpc x 2 @ 4 ohms (can also be bridged at 8 AND 4 Ohms)

ZR100 - $1049 list, $786.75 map, YOUR PRICE call  :o
260 Wpc x 2 @ 8ohms, 435 Wpc x 2 @ 4 ohms (can also be bridged at 8 AND 4 Ohms)

ZR500 - $899 list, $674.25 map, YOUR PRICE call
120 Wpc x 2 @ 8ohms, 190 Wpc x 2 @ 4 ohms (can also be bridged at 8 AND 4 Ohms)

Rob:

I got nothing against MB, or anything they do.  BUT. . . You need to be all over this.  I have said before, the LeAmp 1 was one of the worst I have ever heard. . .  I think I might even pick one of these up!  Seems ridiculous not to!

Sorry for the dumb question, but what does "map" mean?

Nahh. . .He clearly says call for "your price".  I think MAP is Manufacturer's Advertised Price.  And FYI, I did call. . . And his price is lower than anywhere I have found.  Including old faithful Yahoo Shopping, which I use frequently for my more mainstream purchases. .  ;-)

MAP usually means  Minumum Advertised Pricing.  I PM'd him, too, and the price he quoted is good.  I'm leaning towards cancelling my order for the LA II's and getting a ZR-1000.

As for the LA II, well, it's a different amp entirely than the original, with a completely different topology.  I have no problem with the "amp", just that I've been waiting for 4 or 5 months.  At some point, I just want to have an amp, any amp!   But seriously, I've been intrigued by TriPath technology for a long time, and this is the only affordable amp I can find that uses it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Can these U.S. amps also be used in Asia (220/230v)?  Looking at the spec sheet on the Carver Pro website, it wasn't clear if the same amp could do different voltages or if there were different versions for each voltage.

I'm starting to think about selling a pair of original Le Amps (cap removed) that I've had in storage since I got my Acoustic Reality digital amp (iCEpower) almost a year ago.

I'm curious:  why buy the Carver if you have the ICE already?  Is it not as good as you'd hoped or is it a case of just wanting to try something new?  There isn't a lot of info out there comparing the two, but it does seem they're probably pretty similar, sonically.  Except that the Carver is extremely powerful.

Good point.  I don't place to replace the eAR amp.  But, I have been "saving" the Le Amps for use in a 2nd system but if there are better amps out there for similar $$ then I may as well sell the Le Amps now.

My Avinci speakers (also being saved for a 2nd system) sound better (more alive) with my eAR amp than with the Le Amps.  Maybe a Tripath amp would also be better?

If I really wanted another ICEpower amp, I'd check out the eAR Two LE, which is $999.

The Yahoo store gives some different power ratings.  How long do you think it will take before they introduce Digital into the home market?

There are different sets of ratings.  The ones I gave were for peak transient power as most high-end manufacturers use.  If you download the comparison pdf file from the Carver Pro website, they give the power rating into:

Stereo at 8, 4 and 2 Ohms
Mono at 8, and 4 Ohms

For both PEAK and for Wideband 20 to 20K.

Here is the file:

Bill / Nathan,

Can you give us an update on your effort to facilitate a purchase of these Amps?

I am interested for a sub amp.  I think I read somewhere that there were optional modules for xo, and dsp.  Could be a great sub amp too.  Or for biamping the RM40's! This amp on bottom and some tube amp on top or class a amp.   Hmmm....

Hey Bill and Nathan,
Have you considered getting a unit that can be sent around for auditioning/evaluation to members of the Circle?
Does the 1000 and 1600 accept rca?
What are the speaker taps like?

I'd definitely purchase one if I liked it, but without the chance to audition, that makes it tough.

Jer:

At the prices they are talking about, it's a no brainer.  If you don't like it, make some money on it. . .

Hi,

I just called 8th Nerve and got a terrific quote on a Carver ZR 1600, Cardas RCA to XLR adaptors for my pre-amp to amp interconnects, Audience Conductor speaker cables and Audience bi-wire jumpers for my speakers. This looks like it will get me well on my way to the upgrade of my system i was looking for for less than one-third of the price I was thinking about spending for a new amp alone! If the amp sounds as good as everyone says it does, than I'll be extremely happy and have some money left over ! :D

The response is overwhelming, and from the feedback I have gotten, my prices are ridiculous.  Thank you all.  I will be placing my initial order next week and start taking pre-orders now.  The prices I have quoted will only be good until the end of the month!  That doesn't mean that you shouldn't still contact me after that, I will still offer the best prices on these amps, just not as insanely low as they are now.

So to preorder, either PM, email, or call me at 615-742-4283 and I'll take your contact information and a commitment to purchase your amp or amps of choice.  I need to know how many to order since the interest is far greater that the minimum.  Once the amps are here, I will contact you and get payment info and they will ship out.
