For Sale: Butler Audio TDB-3150, $1050 shipped

I've held off for quite a while, but the time has come to offer up my Butler Audio TDB-3150. I really hate to, but a few factors (returning to school, moving to a smaller place & raising some Xmas cash) finally got me off the fence.

Many of you have heard the Butler; it's a fantastic amp for the money. Solid state balls with tube smooth. My particular piece is silver and could easily pass for new. I purchased it new from an AUTHORIZED DEALER, meaning it should still have two or three years left on the warranty.

I'm listing this on Agon, too, and as per my usual practice I offer an AC discount. I'm asking $1050 OBO, and if someone meets my price I'll throw in free shipping (CONUS). I'd really rather not ship to Canada...too much hassle. Postal MO preferred, other methods possible for someone I know. No PP, though- I'm firm on that one.

I'll add some pictures a bit later on, right now I'm off to work out.

EDIT: A fellow AC'er pointed out to me that I neglected to mention this is a 3CH amp. Ooops!

My thought process was than anyone looking for a Butler TDB would know the nomenclature- my bad. The 3150 is a 3 x 150 Watt amp. IIRC the 5 channel and 3 channel versions both use the same power supply, so the 3 channel will actually have a bit more headroom in actual use.

I checked the bill of sale and it turns out I bought it new from authorized dealer Shane Saenger (aka HomeTheaterDoc) in May of '07, so there's about three and a half years of warrranty left on a basically mint amp.

Added info about the amp. Again, I'd consider a partial trade, especially something like a small tubed integrated + cash for the Butler.

A $2495 3 channel tube hybrid amp @ 150 wpc for only $1050??? Are you out of your G.D. mind Rob to be giving this amp away like this?

I've never seen this amp go for under $1700 myself,,, this is 1 incredible deal!

BTW, I own 2 of these Butler 3150's so I know what I'm talking about on this one.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm really stumped that this didn't sell the first day on A-Gon.

Is it the economy? If I don't sell it within a couple days I'll just keep it, store it in the closet if I have to. I'm probably nuts to price it as low as I have.

I think so..........we all want it but................the times are harder , especially around Christmas.

Thanks, Mariusz. I'd probably just keep it otherwise. Since quitting my job as a chef to return to school and moving to a smaller place, I just don't have the time or room to use the Butler; my HT/MC rig is taken apart and I'm just running 2CH. If I don't get the amp sold, eventually I'll get the space to do MC properly again. In the meantime I could sure use the $$$ for Xmas.

Oh, well...we'll see.

This amp would work perfectly well as a 2 channel amp. Nothing says you need all 3 channels connected and because each channel is a separate tube/circuit board, running only 2 channels would be less taxing for the power supply's transformer. At 150 watts per channel, it'll power anything out there with a spare channel in case anything did happen to a channel. For the asking price, this is 1 hell of a deal for any 2 channel enthusiast.

I love the amp, and I'd love to keep it if I thought I could set it up anytime soon. As for the price, I got a very good deal on it considering it was NIB from an authorized dealer- so no need for me to gouge. Of course, I'll never find another new for under $1700 again.
