It have to be inexpensive, say under $300 made in Germany w/same HD800 drivers, since dynamic drivers are obsolete currently, imo.

Well the 800 drivers are dynamic, and the new 660s is $499...so they dont come close to your $300 price point!!

I've heard a ton of planar based headphones and I still strongly prefer dynamic drivers.  My personal favorite is the Beyer T1's (which I own), but I like Senns too.  If they could combine the transparency of the 800's with the tonal balance of the 650s, I'd buy a pair in a heartbeat.

You can change the HD800 tonal balance by changing the can stuffing.

True.  Or you could just buy the T1s, which have similar levels of clarity and soundstaging with a nicer tonal balance, with no mods needed.

I suggest wait an T1 on a sale, not impossible as HD800.

Or by buying the slightly more expensive 800S, which would have the additional benefit of not voiding the warranty if it is still within two years of purchase.

From what I've been able to find. it's not a radical change (and the 660 explains the emergence of the Massdrop HD6xx as a way to clear out the stock-on-hand of 650 parts).

As a 650 owner, I'd be curious to find out if the new drivers are retrofittable, or whether Sennheiser made them different just so you couldn't do that.

Dynamic drivers are used in flagships from Sennheiser (ignoring the ridiculous Orpheus for the moment), Beyer, AKG, Focal and too many others to name. They're far from obsolete.

I am very much satisfied with my T1's......still makes me smile alot....

I never owned or have had the chance to listen to the 650's...and was wondering etc....

Hate to waste the bucks on the 660s, if they were anything less than the T1's!!

I seriously doubt it - the T1's are one of the best headphones on the planet.

The Tesla drivers in the T1 resolve details better than the Senn 600 series, but the Senn HD800 will out-resolve the T1.

That's true, but I vastly prefer the tonal balance of the T1s.  Tradeoffs ... :)

I see that the way to dinamic drivers are increase the size to 100mm or 4'' but they dont want spend research time in a new product as now everything they made they sell.

The T1's or the HD800's are the way to go.  I have both.  Save your money if you have to buy these headphones.  You will be rewarded.  Truth is in the listening.

Everytime I listen with the T1's and go back to my T90's or other headphones they all sound different, but the T1's I always go back to...

Very satisfying for sure...even though I had to spend $830 or so for them....

I keep going back and forth with the Schitt Vahalla2 and Bimby and the Bottlehead Crack...both work so well with these higher
impedance headphones.

Guess I will save my $$$ and get a spare set of headphone replacement cusions!! and another set of tubes for the amp!
(and have money left over for the Thanksgiving turkey!! lol  :D
