Title: Fostex T900A replacement?
Post by: MttBsh on 7 May 2017, 03:47 am
I use a pair of Cain & Cain Abby single driver speakers as well as a Cain & Cain Bailey sub to augment the bass and a pair of T900As next to the speakers to add that upper end sparkle.

I just noticed one of my T900A supertweeters is no longer working. I could buy a new one for around $550, but I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a comparably priced (or maybe even a bit more costly) standalone tweeter that would performs as well as the Fostex. Just looking at options here as I'm addicted to the extra detail that supertweeters bring to the proceedings.

Thank you for any ideas you may have.

Hi Matt

I would contact Madisound and ask for a new diaphragm from Fostex. It may also be something as simple as a corroded contact from salt air. It can be fixed.

It can probably be fixed, the T500A MkII is excellent though, it has a Mg diaphragm and is very neutral, no metallic sounding resonances.

Thanks Dave, that T500AMKII looks sweet, but maybe just a little rich for my blood - I do appreciate the suggestion
