Lost to Covid-19 thread

Great performers falling to C19, thought we could collect names and remembrances in one thread...

Ellis Marsalis, 85

Wallace Roney,59

John Prine,73

Lee Konitz,92. Just as of the date of OP

Who else? Even the above is too many, but unfortunately, I'm sure it's not complete. Marsalis made it to 85 and Konitz to 92 before this microbe took them down. Very sad.

Maybe this thread can serve as a place to share remembrances, music recommendations, and the like.

Hopefully it will contain a lot of those but not a lot of additions.

Be safe everyone. Listening to Konitz as the sun rises right now.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Bucky Pizzarelli was my favorite Jazz guitarists along Jonh Tropea, his son John also was a famous guitarist but have the habit to moan out loud and still sing effusively.
RIP

Could be interesting join a trio with John Pizzarelli, Keith Jarrett and Art Blakey.

Catching up with some podcasts this weekend. The radio show/podcast Fresh Air had 2 shows with replay interviews with and/or about:

John Prine  - 4/10/20

Bucky Pizzarelli, Adam Schlesinger, Ellis Marsalis  - 4/03/20

Find them where you get podcasts, or listen at their website.
