software to test speakers?
« on: 8 Sep 2009, 12:51 am »
I am getting ready to build some BIB speakers using a couple of Tang Band w4-1052sd speakers. I downloaded a calculator/sheet from another site and using that to build the boxes. I need a program that I can test the frequency response after I get them built to see if there are any peaks and such? I have a microphone but need some software. Prefer some thing free or cheap? Thanks

This may give you something to work with.  http://www.marchandelec.com/programs.html

From the Marchand Electronics site:  "Windows program implements a very simple function generator using the pc sound system.  Generates sine wave signals from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Also has white noise and pink noise."

TrueRTA (the paid version with 1/6-octave response) gets my vote :)

Hello. I think the best free and easy to use software is arta

http://www.fesb.hr/~mateljan/arta/

Thats is what I use.

My setup

Arta demo (Fully functional, but can't save freq responses. I just copy the screen using windows print screen function an save my files as jpegs.)
ECM800 Mic
M-Audio Firewire sound card(works as a pre amp and has phantom mode)
Using my denon receiver
