I'm sorry but there's little to go on but it's worth a try.
I recently watched a YouTube speaker review and I know actually playing and recording music is pretty meaningless but I really liked the record.
It's too far back in my history to find and this is all I remember
American female artist, lively jazz drumming, the album it was from is about prison life (?), dated 1990s, singer born in the early '50s (?)
The reviewer may have been of chinese extract.
