Spinning this again today. One thing I will say is that the Redbook layer is superior to the Legacy release, at least to my ears. Cleaner and better balanced overall. At times the Legacy version seemed naggingly noisy and mid-bass tubby. If you like this recording, you need to pony up and get this 2014 release while they are still available. (As always, of course, my ears/brain/system/room so YMMV.)

Asimov - any way you can select a smaller sized picture of that Tina Brooks cover? Too big - messing up my display.  :(
By the way, I have that same release XRCD - it is excellent.  :thumb:

              John Abercrombie:    Witchcraft      '91

Asimov- fwiw you can resize some images, depending on how the address is coded. Check in the {img}  listing at the end just prior to .jpg {/img}. Any image that contains the 'SL+number' can be typed over to get the desired size. In this case the original is 1500, downsize to 500 by deleting the (1). Doesn't work on all images, but handy on occasion.

I'm not normally a big band kinda guy, but this is awesome! Great music, very well recorded. Props to people like Roy Hargrove to make this type of (relatively) complicated and costly recording. Turn it UP!

I never paid much attention to John Abercrombie, but thanks to a kind AC bud, I am beginning to appreciate his work. It is a terrific release.  :thumb:

I have been picking up MoFi releases like a mad man recently (Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, SRV, Allman Bros., Santana, Steppenwolf, Johnny Winter, etc.). This is a very good release, but I doubt I needed it from MoFi as I am finding the non-Rock & Roll MoFi releases not all that essential. For Rock & Roll, MoFi for sure! Although my latest MoFi has been Miles' BB, which does sound better than earlier releases, but it is not a typical jazz record anyway. Am I rambling? Sorry ...
