This one is very good and one of my favorites. I have a lot of his albums and need to revisit them.

Beg, borrow, or steal this. I have it on CD. Miles is on his game here. His tenor man at the time, Wayne Shorter, couldn't make the date I read somewhere, so Tony Williams recruited Sam Rivers from Boston like himself. I also read that Miles was less than happy with the substitution. Not me. He brings an edginess to the proceedings. Miles and the band are stu-freaking-pendous on this!!! No doubt elevated by the enthusiasm of the devotees in the audience.

After hearing this I started searching out more Sam Rivers. But to me, he sounds best here.

Ya'll venture to hear Miles's Tokyo date, do not miss My Funny Valentine. Playing ballads was his specialty. And his back up players are so good on this and thru out this album, It cooks with gas!! Butane, propane, everything.
