Title: Swarm installation - Geddes version - How to get one "off the ground"?
Post by: alanhuth on 15 Jan 2020, 03:32 am
My understanding of the Geddes approach to subwoofer positioning is to have one of the four speakers "off the ground" somehow.  How have people done that?  I'd love to see pictures. Does the one in the air need to be 1.5 inches from the wall also, facing the wall?  I'm trying to imagine the conversation with SWMBO.

One of my Swarm units can be placed atop a bookshelf, with the woofer facing up if desired.

Geddes' solution was to make a large bandpass sub with a long port which pointed upwards.  The port was outside of the enclosure and extended upwards to a height of six feet or seven feet.  Since all of the output of a bandpass sub comes from the port, this effectively placed that bass source closer to the ceiling than to the floor.
