So, I recently saw a review of the Rogue Audio RP-1 tube preamp. It is being touted as a great entry point to true high end sound. At <$1,800 it seems like a great deal.

My question is: How would one of Frank's tubed preamps in the same price range compare to the RP-1? Not likely anyone has directly compared them, but thought I'd toss this out there.

I'm not saying that there aren't any equals (with slightly different "flavors" in sound) but for quality sound, service and reliability, you really can't do better than Van Alstine for the price. If you want to have better, you'll have to pay more for it. I've never regretted any of my purchases and upgrades in dealing with Frank in almost 40 years.
