Pauls series and shunt regs had a very positive effect on sound quality even with this little dac using the cheap ES9023, they was a definite improvement over LM1084 3.3v. I used a 3v3 series (borrowed from the BII) on the ES9023 AVCC and a 3v3 shunt for the XO.
Compared to Pauls regs the LM1084's gave a smaller more compressed sound, bass was noticeably less tight, more lumpy.
I'd imagine fitting shunts for the WM8804 receiver would be another improvement too, unfortunately my little transformer isn't man enough to cope with another pair of shunts
