24/192 over wifi these days...
« on: 18 Oct 2020, 07:18 pm »
I'll admit, I've been out of the loop for a few years on the state of the hobby. I moved into a new home, and while my Fostex corner horns and triode monoblocks seem to love their new place, I'm trying to figure out the best way to utilize my gear over two rooms. I'm thinking some kind of wireless setup from my Benchmark DAC2D will be the best way to go, but what's the consensus for a wifi-based transmitter/receiver pair these days? I see that there's a Denon set, but the reviews are - meh, at best. I don't think I'm exactly in the same demographic as most of the units I see, as I already have a DAC, don't need a Spotify connection, etc - I just need something to take unbalanced or balanced inputs on one end, and spit out the same on the other end to the amplifiers.

Thanks in advance!

I am only familiar wireless transmitters for subwoofers but I don't know how well they work for the full audio spectrum. Here's one from Sonance:

The Bluesound Node 2i might be worth a look.  Wired or wireless, it has a built in processor / streamer.  It also has a very good DAC, but has a digital output to connect to your DAC of choice..

Love mine.
