ICE S1200AS Technical Help
« on: 12 Aug 2022, 02:46 pm »
I have an amp based on the ICE S1200AS amp module.  I'd like to get the signal sense auto-on/off working.  I was able to figure out adding a 12V trigger, but my new preamp doesn't have a trigger out.

I have the manual, but I have questions as I'm no electrical guru.  Is there anyone that is willing to help me with this?  I can provide the manual for the connections, and pics of the wiring inside my amp.

Thanks

The auto sense on/off is engaged on pin block P101 by connecting pins 1 and 6. I have a jumper that connects them.

I found the signal sense annoying to use in real life, turning off to soon and not turning on fast enough or with very low signal. So I pulled the jumper and leave it on all the time. Low idle current.

Thank you so much!  So it's just a simple jumper needed.  Even more simple than I thought!

Thanks for letting me know the limitations.  I'm going to give it a try to see if it will work for me.

Didn't work for me.  I have a switch with connections to pins 1 and 6, so I wired a jumper across them as an addition.  The amp never turned on, and the switch no longer works either.

As a side note, my amp is wired for single end inputs.

I remember Mike mentioning that he couldn't get the auto on/off working with the SE inputs.  Maybe that's it?

Yeah that could be. I only have XLR jacks and I use XLR>RCA adapters when I need SE inputs.

I might buy xlr connectors and rewire for balanced input.  I already own the xlr to rca adapters.
