Faces ~ Long Player

Long Player, from 1971, was the second album by the British rock group Faces. Among the highlights are the live cover of Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed", the wistful "Richmond" and "Sweet Lady Mary", the rave-up "Had Me a Real Good Time" and the opening "Bad 'n' Ruin".

Jeff Beck Group: 1st, 1972 Epic CBS Records, The initial hints of Jeff's move toward his current jazz/rock fusion offerings.

Rod Stewart "Smiler" 1974 Mercury Records LP

Before Warner Bros.; Great Line Up of Musicians. Nonetheless, this album feels a bit disjointed without much impact... a little weird. It definitely has the portents of the disco, night clubbing Rod Stewart to come...

Love those solid green (and red) label records! No barcodes on the back of that one!

Great album Doc. I sent an email to a friend the other day who is just discovering Mountain. I suggested that he search this album out.

Quote
Jan Akkerman (born 24 December 1946) is a Dutch guitarist.
Akkerman is a distinctive guitar player, constantly experimenting with new equipment and guitars. Akkerman's distinctive sound is characterised by his pioneering use of volume swells which produce a smooth, fluty, sustained tone, and other complex techniques such as sweep picking, tapping, and high-speed alternate picking. He also pioneered the use of the lute in a rock band, reflecting his interest in medieval and Renaissance music and culture. He first reached world acclaim in the 1970s when he was seen as the core of the Dutch rock band, Focus, together with Thijs van Leer.

Picked this up at the local record store yesterday along with Dylan's Infidels, Empire Burlesque, and Street Legal, Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Goodbye Cream. Fun day.

I thank goodness that Double Decker Records is about 40 miles away or I'd be there every day.
