One studio, but if a domino effect happens, then that's the end right there.

HD-DVD or Blu-ray

will have to be pretty exceptional to get me out shopping soon.

I have the D-VHS version of Lost in Translation and and the SD DVD. The SD DVD on a Pioneer Elite DV-59Avi is pretty darned close to the true Hi-Def coming out of the D-VHS.  Have to admit the sound track on the D-VHS is a bit better.

I'm waiting for a bit I think.

Anyone out there see this against the D-VHS format yet?

Where the porn industry goes, so goes the war.

Try Xmen 2,I Robot and Man on Fire on dvhs.....and compare the sd dvd to them....then you will have the idea.

BTW sold my  dvhs player and all 48 movies while they were still worth something before Blu Ray gets here.

I doubt porn will have any where near the affect in this battle as it did in the beta/vhs war. because of the net...but so  far one porn studio has sided with BD and another is going to use both formats.

In reality, it was space that won the war for vhs more than porn...and Blu Ray has that won hands down.

But even though there is tons of free porn out there, the fact of the matter is: Porn is STILL a multi BILLION dollar industry. People are still BUYING it in droves, left and right, despite that tons of free material out there.

I think you might underestimating its impact.

Your probably right because I am not into porn... but many others are.
Being a BD only supporter, I hope you are 100% right anyway. 8)

Thanks.  I'll keep the D-VHS though. For long term Hi-def recording/storage, the D-VHS tape will outlast a burned HD-DVD 10 to 1. I'm not loaded with money either - so I'll have to wait until a really good HD-DVD burner comes out at a reasonable price. I think that'll take at least 3 years. Lots of Hi-Def recording between then and now.

Basically the same as HD-DVD's, as expected.

There goes yet another one of Amir's FUD and misinformation spins down the toilet.

I agree with that big time but we are dealing with consumers here and if you remember, Betamax was technically a better transfer but lost pretty easily to VHS.

Yes but VHS won because of having the majority content support.
And with 10 studios not supporting hd dvd, Blu Ray has a major drastic jewel in its crown, not to mention the PS3 and by far the largest hardware support with players from
LG
Panasonic
Sharp
Sony
Pioneer Elite
Philips
Hitachi
Samsung ....vs players from Toshiba  only for hd dvd.

This time around Blu Ray is VHS and hd dvd is Beta.
