300B mono blocs - DIY'ers special - cheap
« on: 9 Jul 2008, 02:23 pm »
I have had a few of these amps around here for a while. In fact I still have one in an unopened box. They are Ming-Da 8 watt 300B units. They sound glorious when running but periodically will burn up the 300B cathode resistor upon turn on. I am contributing this to the mains transformers?

I figure one of you DIY'ers out there could play around with them. They currently have Audio Note and Theta coupling caps inside. The chassis is in great condition. A schematic will be included.
(I have other pairs of these amps as well if interested)

I am asking $295 for the pair without tubes. No warranty, no nothing. You're on your own with them.. I don't think I have the original boxes but they will be packed safely.

If you want a pair of EH 300B tubes (they have about 15 hours on them), I will throw them in for an additional $70.

I also have a pair of Hammond 1627SE output transformers that I was going to install on these amps. Brand new. If you want them, $150 for the pair.

I have another pair that I had the chassis powder coated gloss black. These need more work regarding assembly of the circuit internally. Again, schematic will be supplied or you can use the chassis to build your own circuit into.

 Asking $295 pr. No tubes.

In the picture below, you can also see one of the chassis on the left side.

Do they come with the iron?

I need another project like I need a hole in the head but that is a good deal and could be fun to work on.  The chassis is the real time consuming part.

They do come complete and with iron but as mentioned in the first post, I think the mains transformers would have to be replaced.

I am going to get some internal pictures of the black pair posted a little later this afternoon. I have a few inquiries on them already , in the thread - PM and emails-and they will be offered to those in the order as I received them.

For the record, I also have one last pair. One amp is brand new in an unopened box and the other would have to be put back together. Asking $380 for the pair. Same policies as in the first post of this thread.

By the way, I lost my A$$ on these but I just want to move them as they are taking up room. That's why so cheap.

Here are some pictures of the black 300B amplifiers. As you can see, one of them has differnt parts in it and both need to be 'assembled'. These are not meant for those who simply want to plug them in and listen. These are for the experienced DIY'er who wants to rebuild them or use the chassis for their own project. I just want them out and figure the chassis alone are worth the asking price.

 $295 + shipping. No tubes.

As before: No warranty, no nothing. You're on your own with them
