Title: Chino Hills Earthquake Moves my Speakers!
Post by: Jon L on 30 Jul 2008, 12:24 am
I live a few cities away from Chino Hills, and I came to find my speaker (in semi-storage) like this.  I had BDR cones between the top and bottom speaker modules, and the top module alone is like 100 pounds!

That's pretty scary.  Luckily, my speakers didn't move.  They're coupled with 3/4" thick rubber feet.

Wow, good one Jon L. Thankfully nothing of mine moved, but I'm further west. I was at my friends studio and the guitars he had on the wall were swinging in their mounts. It kind of freaked me out but nothing ever dropped. Overall it wasn't to bad where I was.

Hey!

That is pretty scary Jon L  :?

I just checked the news and it was like 5.4 or something like that right?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Yes, 5.4 is the current opinion on how strong it was.  From my work site, some 30 miles away from the epicenter, it was pretty gentle, but lasted pretty long, maybe 20 seconds.  My home is much closer, less than 10 miles away, so I'm glad nothing was damaged there.

Close call, there, Jon L.
