Title: m901 bypass caps
Post by: marvda1 on 3 Jul 2010, 06:10 pm
those owning the m901 and bypassed the auricaps, what bypass cap did you use and how did it effect the sound?

i'm going to start with the tube buffer upgrade on mine.

Marvin,
James wrote quite a bit about his Mundorfs and you heard them at LSAF.  Gary likes Sonicaps.  I don't know anyone who has swapped upgraded caps since it requires soldering and break-in.
So, you'll just have to take your amp back to Gary a few times (as you're in Dallas anyway) and let us all know what you find!

I could be wrong, but I assumed he was asking about adding a bypass cap to the auricaps. So far, I don't think anyone has done this. I ordered some of the inexpensive sonicap gen IIs to try as bypass caps for the auricaps in my Classic Two, but haven't received them yet.
The clarity ESA caps would be a reasonably priced cap to try, and of course the more expensive sonicap platinums.
