Chime filter caps
« on: 4 Apr 2008, 05:55 am »
I ended up installing 47uf 400v. Solens in the C406 spot and have to say it was well worth the time and money. Before this I was bypassing the stock caps with .1uf Russian teflons and 2.2uf polypro's. That was a good combination, but the Solens are a really nice improvement. Still have the bypass caps in there.
Next, I'm putting more of these in the 3 other 47uf spots. I'll report on the results later. These caps are 1 5/8" x 2 3/8" so you gotta have a lot of room for them.
By the way, I did bypass the 47ufs with 1uf motor run oil caps for a few days, but it caused a loss in resolution. Maybe I should have let them run in, but it was so bad they had to go.
The Solen site has 43uf 400v. polys on sale for half off.
Still burning it in, but I couldn't be happier at what I'm hearing and what this dac can do with CD's.
