Title: Duet/Iphone server setup and running in a half hour!
Post by: birdwizard on 27 Dec 2008, 04:12 am
Wow, call me converted.

I hooked the coaxial digital out from the squeezebox directly into the Cary Cinema 6, which goes into an EAD 5300 amplifier and outputs though a pair of Dali Helicon 800's.

The Duet  automatically found my network on the DIR-655 router, and then recognized my itunes stash shortly after I installed the squeeze center. I then downloaded the Ipeng application which downloaded into my iphone directly from itunes and installed itself in seconds. I clicked the ipeng icon and was given an almost mirror image of what I would see on my duet controller.

The difference is that the iphone can be navigated by touch and is way more responsive than the duet remote! The iphone is incredible as a remote! The best remote I've ever used by far.

Well, as you can probably tell Im quite blown away by this whole thing. The duet sounds pretty good playing the itunes. The radio stations are far more vast than I anticipated, and more eclectic and worldwide. To go from CD's and Comcast music to this in under an hour is just surreal.

Great news. I was thinking of getting an iPod Touch as a remote, which I have heard will do the same thing (?) Anyone know that for sure? And I presume that would work with the standard SB's?

Yes, it works fine on iPod touch and with standard SBs. It works with anything connected to a SqueezeCenter from version 7.0 on.
