For sale is this EAD DSP-1000 Series II DAC. I'm the second owner. Original retail price was $1000.
Unit is a 20 bit design based on the Burr Brown PCM63P. They are the "K" version, the highest grade. This chip is still used today in the $1500 Monarchy M24 DAC. Superior to current 1 bit "Delta Sigma" units, IMO.
The Class A output stage is based on the audiophile grade, ultra high speed Analog Devices AD841 Op-Amps. Current models including the Benchmark use the lower grade NE5532 and NE5534 devices.
Unit has inputs for coax, toslink and the rare AT&T glass optical.
This is a black faceplate model with upgraded IEC inlet accepting standard power cords.
Condition of the unit is 7/10 with light scratches and discoloration of the faceplate due to age. No deep scratches or dings.
Sound quality is fantastic. Very smooth, tubelike sound but with plenty of detail and superb pinpoint imaging.
Unit includes original box, inner packaging and IEC cord. No manual.
