I am hoping for a first timer to win, so no France or England. I think that Belgium has what it takes to win this time. I am glad that I live in a city with a Telemundo station so that I can listen to excitable announcers. Slightly bummed that next weeks games aren't early because on pacifiac time one can watch the game or the first half and not miss much work.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Well, once each in '66 and '98. I'm good with any of the other teams winning the Cup, too.

Who else is glad that Brazil is out?? For some reason, I like it when the favorite is out, especially when they are the favorite often.

Stunning goalkeeping today during the France-Belgium game.  These two guys are awesome-- gotta be the best goalies of the cup.

I like to see new teams win championships - though I am very partial to France (ancestory and have spent quite a bit of time there too.)

However, Brazilians are obsessed with soccer and given the often general mess of the country - it is one of the things that the down and out can celebrate whereas the better off countries do have much more going for the general public.

All the stories have been told
Of kings and days of old,
But there's no england now.

Heard this on the Sopranos the other night. Great Kinks song

Brazil deserved it but Saudi Arabia... looks like they need reality check when it comes to expectations on the soccer field.

At half time, I'm pleased to have learned how to say "dumbass" in Croatian.

France deserved the win.  Croatia outplayed them but the French played very smart except for the pass back to the goalie who thought he could dribble.
