Title: Matching VPC-1 to amp with 10kOhm input resistance....
Post by: macnewma on 10 May 2003, 03:59 am
I am thinking about purchasing a CI Audio VPC-1 to go between my Pioneer DV-45a and my new Odyssey Stratos.  I believe the Stratos has an input impedence of 10kOhms.  Will this be a problem?

I am not an electrical engineer, so I am not well-versed in Ohm's law.  Why does the impedence matching make such a large difference?

Is it best to just try it and see what happens?  I will have very short IC runs.  About 8 inches between each component and that cable will have very low capacitance.

Does anybody have suggestions?

Thanks in advance  :D

The input imedance being 10k will need a higher current source than an amplifier with 50k input. It will depend alot on the source (DV-45a).
You can give it a try on our 30 day trial, all it will cost you is a few bucks for shipping if you return it.

Thanks.  I will think about it.  I have a friend within driving distance that can bring one over for a trial.  I might try that first.

Thanks for the very quick response-
