Are these good for open baffle
« on: 24 Nov 2008, 03:09 am »
I have a couple of no name (new old stock) 10" woofers that i bought from a garage sale and just wondering if they would be good for some sort of 2 way or 3 ways OB speakers.  Here is the specs (dont know how valid this is).

Ohm rating is 4 ohms
2 inch voice coil
SPL is 91db at 1 watt at one meter
Freq. Response 30 Hz. to 3500 Hz.
FS - 36.8926 Hz.
Revc - 3.3481 ohms
Zmax - 14.8696 ohms
Qes - 0.8663
Qms - 2.9809
Qts - 0.6712
Le - 0.5216 mH (at 1 kHz)
Vas - 22.0267 L

Any suggestion/recommendation is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From the specs, I'd say yes - good for OB.  Qt and Fs and what you'd want - Vas, too.
Being a 4 ohm driver makes the x-over easier.

You won't get much bass from one 10" per side, tho.  2x10, yeah.

Try it out on some cheap cardboard material first. If you like the sound then build some proper baffles.

I think it may be best for me just to wait on the project.  With the holiday season coming up, my wife wont be happy with a bunch of wood/speakers in the house.  Thanks.
