Hi adrianc and all Audio Circle members.
No wonder the availability of NOS tubes is becoming rare,
you create it.
You control the availability of NOS tubes.

I know what you mean, Jay!  I'll probably be doing the same thing  when he posts his collection of euro KT88s.  Then I'll be  :bawl:

Just kidding, Adrian.  It's a pleasure to see your collection and I, for one, am glad you choose to share it with us here at AC.  I actually got into tubes far too late to have built a collection like yours.  Frankly I just wish I had the scratch to get a full set of Psvane tubes for my rig.

+1 , love seeing  your collection as well  8)

I too have been  considering  the Psvane, but only  for my   EL34 power tubes...   just not sure  I can  justify   the $$   for the life expectancy.  Was hoping  with the "higher  quality" 6CA7 -T series the life expectancy might increase a bit but I was told to expect 2k - 3k hours at best

Ahhh...planned obsolescence.  A dastardly concept that does a disservice to all.  Everything seems to be a commodity any more.

Matsushita 12AX7?

We got a winner.  A great tube IME, and if paired correctly with copasetic output tube, a real sleeper.

Jeff Larson's  12BK5 (6BK5) 5 watts push-pull (pentode mode ) amp . The circuit uses a 6J6 input tube configured as a long tail differential stage using a CCS in the tail. No global feedback. Some feedback is taken around the plate circuit of the output stage and fed back to the output stage grids (local feedback). The amp is self biasing with a separate cathode resistor for each output tube. Each cathode resistor is bypassed with capacitors. Output transformers are vintage RCA units from a large console stereo originally rated for 15W/ch. Power transformer is from a Bogen stereo receiver running 6BQ5's. What one is really listening to in this amp is the first stage 6J6 one of the "overlooked"
tubes. So in that sense, this amp sounds more "triody". More depth & bass / bass control than red SEP Spud 6CL6 ( 2.8 watts, no feedback ). The extra
power doesn't hurt either. SEP 6CL6 has wider sound stage with ultra clear midrange but a bit shy on front to back depth.
