Title: Looking for Shostokovich #6
Post by: Big Red Machine on 6 Jun 2010, 12:49 pm
I cannot find a CD of the Telarc Shostokovich Sym #6 with Lorin Maazel and the Cleveland Orchestra.

Can someone locate this disc?

I couldn't find it anywhere either. Not a mention! Are you sure it exists? Maybe you meant his 1981  5th (http://www.gramophone.net/Issue/Page/August%201985/38/823219/SHOSTAKOVICH.+Symphony+No.+5+in+D+minor,++Op.+47.+Cleveland+Orchestra+I+Lorin+Maazel.) on Telarc?

I have 5 & 9 on Pentatone, awesome - probably my favorite record. Same orchestra and conductor have now released 1 & 6.

Also a live version by Mravinsky 6th (http://www.gramophone.net/Issue/Page/July%201972/42/829280/SHOSTAKOVICH.+Symphony+No.+6,+op.+54.) who also debuted it. This place says they have it (vinyl) http://www.classicrecords.co.uk/

Good luck!
Rich
