24B3 six channel amp
« on: 18 Jun 2018, 04:58 pm »
I am in the process of building new loudspeakers. My original plan was to just go passive again, but the new 24B3 got me thinking. This is an excellent amp (duh... it's a Bryston), also should work well with non Bryston loudspeakers (it's a matter of filtering, which is no problem for me), and would be a nice and affordable step up from my current 4B SST2 (last incarnation) that I can still sell used for a decent amount.

So I started Googling for pictures, tech specs, pictures, prices, pictures, reviews, pictures, release dates, pictures, but basically came up empty...
The Bryston site doesn't even have any info...
James? Pretty please?

Hi

We are just getting the final safety and hydro approvals so no official announcement yet.

There is one unit out there now which is being reviewed with the Middle T Actives by Soundstage Magazine

Hi

Yes we start building units next month.

Soundstage Magazine is doing a review on the amplifier as well in combination with the Middle T Active speakers which should be out soon.

So... More than one year down the line, and still no documentation, no images, no reviews, no pricing, no availability. Even the Bryston site only has a page with barely any info, no spec sheets, only a link to the generic b3 pdf folder, in which it isn't even mentioned. Also there is basically no mention of it here at Audiocircle.
I really wonder why.

Hi

24B Cubed cancelled due to lack of interest and continuing to work on the six channel 620B Cubed amplifier.

...will the 620 be made just like the 9B (with  6 channels)? if not, what are the differences?

Hi Al

The 620 will be 6 channels at 200 watts with any 2 bridge-able channels to 350 watts. It will be available with or without a fan as well. It will also have Ethernet connection capability to monitor status and such.

Hi Al ... yes separate transformers - no pricing yet - probably a bit more than the 9B Cubed.

Ah... That's a shame... It would have been perfect for me. If you happen to have a black, 19 inch, 230 volts version laying around somewhere I still might be quite interested.

As a side note, please update the Bryston.com website...

James,

what about the 21B's future?

fwiw...i'm using my 4B SST & 875 HT for my current setup which is somewhat the same like the 24B regarding the power output of these amps (4B for the bass and 875 for mids & highs). i'm pretty happy with this combo :thumb: i'd say i get more details (resolution) compared to using a single 4B or a single 875.

Hi Al

The 21B will stay as it is popular with the Active Bryston speaker customers and as a Center and Surrounds in a Theater setup.
