10K passive preamp with tubed cd player.

Thinking of buying a tubed Jolida 100 but concerned about the players actual output impedance, which I can't seem to locate.
Is this a problem?

Hi franjy,

Assuming that the output impedance of the Jolida is not greater than 1k (I doubt it is), you should be fine IMO.

Best regards,

"Line Output Voltage:  > 2V, 47 Kohms" From Jolida's site.

I contacted them about this a while back as it seemed extremely high, they said it is indeed a 47kohm output impedance.

Hi Jared,

Thanks for chiming in with this info.  47k output impedance?  :?  Well, I can't say I recommend using a 10k passive preamp with that  :nono:   Better go with an active preamp with an even higher input impedance.

Or, Jared's Ack Dack for sale would do the trick nicely (that is a great NOS dac and the price is right!): http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=43793.msg393625;topicseen#new

Vinnie,

Funny you should mention my Ack as the reason I know about the Jolida is I upgraded from the Jolida to the Ack.  Well not really a upgrade per say, I got hooked on the convenience of using a Squeezebox so the Jolida had to go.  Now I have to sell the Ack...for convenience as I tend to let my music play while I sleep so I can't use a battery powered DAC, I guess I should have thought of that before purchasing it.

Walter at Underwood HiFi Mods told me the 47K output is a misprint.
The actual impedence is 47 ohms.
I guess he should know, he modifies them.
Actually, 47K seems ridiculously high for any source.

Well, 47-ohm will be fine  aa
