Robin,

Thanks for the lead on Mezzoforte - Vocanic.  I love that band and missed the release of this album.

Jhm731,

+1 on the new Manu Katche project.

Happy listening,
Lou

 Back in '69/'70, many Miles fans and critics felt the same way.

On 3rd go-round, starting to make some sense out of it, though more listens will be needed. My first thought was 'Weather Report', but considering the dates, WR must of heard this and thought, ah-ha!

If nothing elese, getting the 1st 100 hours on new pair of tubes done in a hurry.

Yes , that started a trend, the performers on BB, most left to form Return to Forever & Weather Report

Ummm...you need to listen to BB at high volume(higher than average)...it was meant to play loud. This was the leap into electric instrumentation, a rock-a-fy jazz soup. By 1975, the wall of sound Miles was projecting was very intense, only way to hear everything was play it loud, as loud as you can take it.  :thumb:

"The Tony Wilson Sextet was formed in 1990 in Vancouver, BC, to perform original compositions and arrangements by guitarist Tony Wilson. Since 1995 the ensemble's personal has remained constant and consists of the musicians heard on this recording...The centerpiece of this recording is an arrangement of several sections from the Benjamin Britten composition "Lachrymae". Originally written for viola and piano, the Sextet's version while staying true to the oringinal, take's several approaches to the material, such as, layering melodies over odd time ostinatos, mixing free improv with fixed melodic statements, creating variations using small sections of material and verbatim versions arranged for the sextet's instrumentation. The Sextet creates a distinct sound that will appeal to fans of both free-improv and the contemporary third-stream scene...http://www.squidco.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=12195
